Freitas led Portugal to the quarter-finals at the 2014 World Team Championships which is so far their best result in history. He was also the key player of the Portuguese team who won the 2014 European Team Championships, beating Germany in the final, as well as the 2015 European Games. His girlfriend is Luxembourg’s national team player Sarah de Nutte.
